"A STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN"
(Green, O 2009 own work)
This is an original creation, submitted as my HSC Visual Arts BOW (body of work). Its concept is embedded in the lyrics of legendary English rock band Led Zeppelin and their legendary song 'Stairway to Heaven' as well as minute allusions to J R.R Tolkin's transcendental 'Lord Of The Rings'. This artwork exemplifies an organic approach to art through its successful construction from raw and pure materials such as wood, cotton, tree bark, rice and more. However, most interestingly, the tones and hues have been created through coffee; the weaker the coffee the lighter the tone and vice versa.

THE BARCELONA PAVILION
(Cannan 2008 The Barcelona Pavilion)
Created by Ludwig Mies van de Rohe in the late 1920's, the Barcelona Pavilion is recognised today as an important structure in Modern Architecture. However it was only designed as a temporary building, hosting Barcelona's international exhibition in 1930 and was torn down soon after. Nevertheless, due to its significant impact on Modern Architecture, it was rebuilt between 1983-1986 from black and white photographs. The new Barcelona Pavilion is constructed from a steel frame with glass walls creates the illusion of a floating roof.

SUSSEX INLET

(Green, O. 2008 own work)
This original photograph was taken on NSW's South Coast and depicts the magic of sunlight. I am fascinated with this photograph as it reflects not only the purity of the water, but the different colours created by the sunlight. The water here appears to be a myriad of colours ranging from blues and greens, to yellows and burnt oranges closer to the shore, reflective of the sand.
